A Twihard Tale

I read Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight at the end of 2008 after listening to months of banter about Bella and Edward at the water cooler. A colleague offered to let me borrow her copy of the book so I could catch up on the story before all the girls in the office started reading New Moon, the second book in the series. At the time, I was not a reader; I wouldn’t have picked up a book on my own, let alone Twilight, and preferred to surf the web or watch TV. Nonetheless, I’d been interested in vampires since Brad Pitt played Louis de Pointe du Lac in the film adaptation of Anne Rice’s, Interview with the Vampire, and I loved Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, so I decided to give it a try.

Needless to say, I read Twilight in record time, and quickly started on the rest of the series. Before I knew it, I was officially a Twihard! I finished the original series and went on to read Midnight Sun, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella and The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide. I hit the theatre as soon as each movie was released, I attended The Twilight Saga Official Convention in my town, and for goodness sake, I even bought t-shirts.

Now, I’m planning a trip to the Olympic Peninsula for my 30th birthday!
